Approximately 4,000 hardcore electronic dance music campers showed up for EDC Chicago ready for the time of their life. Unfortunately for some of them, it was a cold, rainy weekend to be camping. According to sources on site, the campers toughed it out the whole weekend, with mud and dirt up to their knees…and made the most of the situation. On Monday morning, President and CEO Pasquale Rotella went around the campsite along with Insomniac staffers and volunteers and handed out over 1,000 free breakfast burritos to the brave campers that toughed it out the entire weekend. With reportedly over 60,000 in attendance and poor weather conditions, it is unclear whether the festival was profitable for mega promoter Insomniac. For a multi million dollar budget and production, 60,000 in attendance does not guarantee a promoter will make money or get their investment back, especially with inclement weather conditions. But user experience and comfort come first and foremost for Insomniac and Rotella, who pride themselves on fan experience above all else. This gesture of personally delivering breakfast burritos shows how amazing of an individual Rotella is, how great the Insomniac crew is, and how much Rotella and Insomniac care about their fans. It’s extremely rare to see the CEO of any major promotional company personally giving out free breakfast to his fans, let alone approving the budgetary overage to do so. This is just another example of why Rotella and Insomniac are one of the best in the world at what they do.
